Shipping Policy

THE SCREWMAN SHIPPING AND DELIVERY POLICY

This Shipping and Delivery Policy applies to orders delivered within South Africa.

DELIVERY METHODS

The Screwman uses the following delivery methods:

• Gauteng deliveries: Orders may be delivered using a Screwman delivery vehicle, depending on the delivery address, route availability, order size and vehicle capacity.
• Deliveries outside Gauteng: Orders are sent using an approved third-party courier service.
• Certain large, heavy, hazardous or unusually sized products may require a specialised delivery arrangement or a separate delivery quotation.

The delivery method used for an order will be determined by The Screwman.

ORDER PROCESSING AND STOCK LEAD TIMES

Please allow approximately 1 to 3 business days for standard order processing before dispatch.

The processing period allows us to confirm payment, verify stock, pick and pack the order and move stock between locations where necessary.

Products shown as available may be:

• Immediately available from our Pretoria store;
• Held at another Screwman or supplier location elsewhere in South Africa;
• Split across multiple locations and required to be consolidated before dispatch; or
• Subject to procurement from a local or overseas supplier.

Where products must be collected or transferred from multiple locations, the processing period may be longer than 1 to 3 business days.

In some cases, products may need to be procured from overseas. Overseas procurement will typically add approximately 1 to 2 weeks to the processing period before the order can be dispatched. Supplier availability, international transport and customs processes may cause additional delays.

Any product-specific lead time shown on a quotation, product page, order confirmation or communication from The Screwman forms part of the estimated fulfilment period for that order.

DELIVERY TIMES AFTER DISPATCH

Once the complete order is ready and has been dispatched, delivery normally takes approximately 1 to 3 business days.

This delivery estimate applies after order processing, stock transfers and procurement have been completed. The total time from placing an order to receiving it is therefore the applicable processing or procurement lead time plus the estimated delivery time.

Delivery times are estimates and may vary according to the delivery location, courier routes, vehicle availability, order size and circumstances outside our reasonable control.

WEEKENDS AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding South African public holidays.

The Screwman does not process, pick, pack or dispatch orders over weekends or public holidays.

Screwman delivery vehicles and third-party couriers do not ordinarily collect or deliver Screwman orders over weekends or public holidays.

An order placed after business hours, over a weekend or on a public holiday will begin processing on the next business day.

SHIPPING CHARGES

Applicable delivery charges will be shown at checkout, included in the quotation or confirmed before the order is dispatched.

Delivery charges may depend on the destination, product weight, dimensions, quantity and delivery method.

Large, heavy, hazardous or unusually sized products may attract additional delivery charges. Where an additional charge is required, The Screwman will contact the customer before dispatch.

DELIVERY ADDRESSES

Customers must provide a complete and accurate physical delivery address, including the correct postal code, contact person and working telephone number.

Courier deliveries cannot ordinarily be made to a post office box.

The customer must ensure that someone is available at the delivery address to receive and sign for the order during normal business hours.

The Screwman will not be responsible for delays caused by an incorrect or incomplete address, inaccessible premises, security restrictions or the absence of an authorised person to receive the delivery.

Any reasonable redelivery, return-to-sender or address-correction charge caused by incorrect information or an unsuccessful delivery attempt may be charged to the customer where permitted by law.

ORDER TRACKING AND DELIVERY UPDATES

Where tracking is available for a courier shipment, the tracking details will be provided after dispatch.

Screwman vehicle deliveries may not include live online tracking. Customers may instead receive an estimated delivery date or direct delivery update.

Tracking information may take time to update after a parcel is collected by the courier.

Please take the processing, stock-transfer, procurement and delivery periods described in this policy into account before requesting an order-status update.

PARTIAL DELIVERIES

Where an order contains products with different lead times or products held at different locations, The Screwman may:

• Hold the order until all products are ready and deliver it as one shipment; or
• Arrange a partial delivery where practical.

Any additional delivery charge for a customer-requested split delivery will be communicated and approved before the additional shipment is sent.

DELIVERY DELAYS

Although we aim to meet the stated estimates, delays may occur due to circumstances including:

• Stock being held at different locations;
• Supplier lead times or stock shortages;
• Overseas procurement and customs clearance;
• Courier backlogs or service disruptions;
• Severe weather, flooding or road closures;
• Strikes, civil disruption or load-shedding-related interruptions;
• Remote or outlying delivery locations;
• Incorrect delivery information; or
• Other events outside The Screwman’s reasonable control.

Where a material delay becomes known to us, we will make reasonable efforts to notify the customer and provide an updated estimate.

If an order cannot be supplied, The Screwman will contact the customer to discuss an alternative product, a backorder, cancellation or refund, as applicable.

RECEIVING AND INSPECTING DELIVERIES

Please inspect the number of parcels and the visible condition of the packaging when the order is delivered.

Where possible, visible damage or missing parcels should be recorded with the driver before signing for delivery.

If an item is damaged, defective, missing or incorrect, contact online@screwman.co.za as soon as possible and provide:

• The order or invoice number;
• A description of the problem;
• The affected product code and quantity; and
• Clear photographs of the product, packaging and courier label where applicable.

Do not discard the packaging until the matter has been assessed.

Acceptance of a parcel from the driver does not remove any rights available to the customer under applicable South African law.

RISK AND DELIVERY

Goods remain at The Screwman’s risk until the customer or the customer’s authorised representative accepts delivery, as required by applicable South African law.

An order will be treated as delivered when it has been delivered to the address supplied by the customer and accepted by the customer or an authorised person at that address.

COLLECTION ORDERS

Where collection is offered, customers must wait for confirmation that the order is ready before travelling to collect it.

An order confirmation does not mean that the products have already been picked, transferred or prepared for collection.

The person collecting the order may be required to provide the order number, proof of purchase and suitable identification.
